Exhibition Description:
Curated by Galleria Camaya and Dunealogy Studio, this compelling exhibition builds upon the remarkable success of the “Visual Narratives from Overseas Filipino Artists” show last June 2024. This new exhibition, titled ” Unity in Diversity: Filipino Artists Across Borders ” aims to showcase the vibrant and diverse landscape of Philippine contemporary art while fostering cultural exchange and community engagement..
About the Theme:
“Unity in Diversity: Filipino Artists Across Borders” explores the complex interplay of identity, and cultural fusion through the unique lens of Filipino artists based either in Hong Kong or the Philippines. This exhibition aims to showcase how the Filipino perspective shapes artistic expression and cultural identity.
The themes of identity and cultural fusion are particularly relevant to the Filipino experience. The fusion of local and global perspective has created a rich tapestry of cultural exchange and adaptation. This exhibition seeks to capture the nuances of maintaining Filipino identity while integrating into new societies, the transformative journey of migration, and the innovative fusion of Filipino traditions with global influences.
Through this exhibition, we aim to celebrate the diversity within Filipino identity and the unifying threads that connect Filipino artists across borders. We encourage submissions that challenge stereotypes, explore cultural hybridity, and offer new perspectives on what it means to be Filipino in a globalized world.
Exhibition Catalog:
To complement the exhibition, Galleria Camaya and Dunealogy Studio will create a free digital catalog featuring all participating artists and their works. Additionally, physical copies of the catalog will be available for purchase by pre-order print-on-demand. This catalog will serve as a lasting record of the exhibition and provide further exposure for the artists.
Submission Guidelines:
Eligibility: Open to all Filipino artists 18 years and older based in either Hong Kong or the Philippines, working in any 2D medium including painting, drawing, photography, printmaking, digital media, and mixed media. Installation and sculpture are not eligible for this opportunity. Art may be of any style from abstraction to representation as long as it focuses on the theme of identity and cultural fusion in broad terms.
In terms application acceptance the gallery’s decisions is final and binding. By applying for the exhibition, applicants acknowledge and accept these decisions.
Submission Fee: FREE for a maximum of one artwork only.
Artwork Submission Requirements:
High-resolution and clear images of the artwork (JPEG format, maximum 3 MB each).
◦ Title, medium, dimensions, price, and year of creation for each piece.
◦ Artist statement.
◦ Link to website and/or Instagram.
Size Restrictions:
Maximum size for the artwork must be no larger than 3 feet x 4 feet. Minimum size for submissions must be no less than 2 feet x 2 feet in any direction.
Shipping:
Artists will be responsible for shipping to and from the gallery if the artwork is not sold. All selected artwork must be in the gallery by December 15, 2025 in Makati (HK-based: January 15, 2025)
Sales Commission Split:
60% Artist / 40% Gallery
Selection Process:
Selected artists will be notified by Friday, November 15, 2024. A list of selected artists will be posted on our website https://galleriacamaya.online. The decision of the organizers is final.
